Denver Academy Faculty

Denver Academy teachers are selected based upon personal character traits as well as their academic and professional qualifications. We choose teachers who exhibit integrity, respect for structure and discipline, a sense of humor and a genuine interest in the well-being and success of all students.

Teachers come to Denver Academy because they are creative, energetic and believe in the potential of every child. They stay at Denver Academy because they value the supportive team environment and know they are making a real impact in the lives of their students.

Before ever stepping in a classroom, our teachers receive extensive, specialized training—developed and delivered by our Dean of Education and Program Team—in teaching students with learning differences. Additionally, all Denver Academy teachers participate in on-going, rigorous professional development in order to stay on the cutting edge of research in education. Our Program Team leads weekly trainings as well as a number of teacher training days throughout the school year. Each teacher is also part of a Professional Learning Team. Learning Teams participate in action research relating specifically to student groups at Denver Academy. Interns and new teachers also participate in an annual summer workshop.

Furthermore, all teachers are observed and critiqued regularly by administration, senior staff and the Program Team. Teachers attend national and local conferences, seminars and workshops presented by leaders in the field of education. Many faculty members address groups of professionals and are frequently asked to present at conferences.
