Mr. Beckwith was recognized as a LifeChanger in his community for his dedication to going above and beyond for students. Known by his students as “Mr. B,” he prepares them for life beyond middle school and challenges them to accomplish things they don’t believe they’re capable of. He incorporates humor into his lessons and shows his students how to advocate for themselves.
Beckwith goes beyond teaching language arts and instills a variety of skills in his students, including algebra, debate skills, and perseverance. He was nominated by a colleague, Denver Academy Director of Education Philippe Ernewein.
“Charles is truly one of the greats and I am so lucky that my son was in his class,” said Misti Durnford, the parent of a student. “He has used his gift as a teacher to make my son a better student, a better person, and more prepared to move forward in the future. He has made a difference in my son’s life beyond what he will ever know.”
